T.C. THOROUGHBRED FARM

Offering Affortable Performace Bred Horses.....Owned by Murray Livestock

 SECOND CHANCES PROGRAM

Perfectly good horses, ready for another shot at life and forever Love..

This program takes so called unwanted, un-useable horse(s) and we put them through our tests to see what they will be suitable for. Basically were trying to find any flaws they may have. When we are looking for/at potential horse(s) we always look for certain qualities like a loving, sweet and gentle personality. This program offers everything from nice weanling to aged kid friendly horses. We have registered and un-registered horse(s) in this program as well. Most of our horses come from situations where the owners couldn’t afford care or feed for the animal(s) anymore. They all leave here up to date on Shots and Worming. If there are any special shoeing/trimming requirements on a horse that will be put on the horses individual ad. This program gets in very nice horse(s) that will be ready for new homes sooner then others. However we keep everything no less then a couple of weeks to make sure we know everything or enough about them, that way you know about them as well. We do get a history or information on most of our horse(s) but we always check to see if that is accurate.

**.Due to the number of inquiring into our program, T.C. Thoroughbred Farm is going to let individuals or families let us know what they are looking for in a new horse(s) or companion. We only try to put horse(s) into our program that we believe will find new, great, loving homes, and unfortunately we can't save them all, but if you are looking for something that we might not pickup ourselves we would more then be willing to bring the horse(s) into our program, and get them into your homes. Please email us with specific in what you are looking for, we look at dozens and dozens of horses every month, but can only take in a couple, due to costs of feed and care that T.C. Thoroughbred Farm will endure. Every horse that leaves this program is only sold for what T.C. Thoroughbred Farm has put into them, so this program is a great way for families to get nice horses at an affordable price. We are not trying to get rich with this program, only to put perfectly good horse(s) into homes that will love them..***

                            IN MEMORY OF

CHANCE

This beautiful and sweet guy lets us know why we are doing what we are doing. Horses are amazing creatures that don't deserve to be treated poorly. "Chance" was a younger stallion that had one horrible life. His breeding would have made us think he wouldn't have been left out like a piece of trash. He was an AQHA running stallion with some greats in his pedigree if you would have wanted to breed racing Quarter horses or have an amazing barrel prospect you would have bred to "Chance".

Here is "Chance's" Story. We met "Chance" June of 2008 when a friend that works at the local sale barn called us to tell us about a friendly stallion that shouldn't be going to slaughter buyers. We dropped what we were doing and went right down to check him out. "Chance" was off in the back end and had some nerve damadge that caught are eye. We got a pretty good background on him from a Brand Inspector that knows about our program. He was number 1 to end up being bought for slaughter. We left to go talk to our vet about if there was anything they could do to make his quality of life better. Well we got a decent answer and decided to try bringing "Chance" into our Program. When we got back we missed the horses sale and I went to talk to the guy who buys for slaughter and with some demending I got him to agree to sell us "Chance" for what he paid. Well we didn't know that he was Now in worse condition then we previously saw him. The workers at the Sale Barn Knew that he wasn't steady on all fours but decided to run him around anyway. "Chance" fell while being run down the alley and his back legs went under the wood planks. Of course he was thrashing around a tore into his back leg pretty much ripping the tendon Completly out in the front. He loaded up pretty well and we made the hour & half trip to our ranch. Unloading him was a different story and he did fall while in the trailer trying to unload himself but we got him out and put him in a small pen along the side of the barn. He was in a lot of pain and didn't want us to clean him up but with some time we got his leg cleaned and wrapped up. The girls decided to braid his mane and tail because he needed to look pretty. Chance was one all sorts of medicine for infections and pain. In July & August it was determind that there was no improvement and we couldn't stop the infections from coming back. When we noticed that he was in more pain then normal and was starting to drop weight with the vet advising us we decided that it was in "Chance's"  best interest to put him down. He was such a sweet boy and probably the nicest stallion we have ever worked with.

Here is a video that shows just how bad "Chance" was. Please be advised that his video can be hard to watch at times, but the public need to understand that horses aren't asking a whole lot from us Humans but they don't deserve to be left like "Chance" was left.

Would you like to Help our Program. Well there are many ways the public can help us.  Cost on us to feed and provide the best care possible, is done out of our own pockets, without much assistance. If we could get the publics help in caring for these wonderful animals it would help keep the cost down, when they are ready to find new Loving Homes.

We need all kinds of things, not just help on the feed and care of the horses. We also need tack, as not every horse is the same. We need blankets, some additional feeders, fence supplies, etc.. There is so many other things that would be useful to our Program. If you have anything lying around collecting dust it would still work great for us. We have only started this Program Fall 07', but it is amazing that amount of help being offered. Again, even the smallest amount or item would work great in our quest to make sure prefectly good horses, get the loving homes they truely deserve.

Want to mail us items. Please contact us, and we will get the address to you ASAP.

 Thanks Everyone.
