(((...SPARK IS NOW LOCATED IN AUGUSTA MT...)))
This gentle Giant is Spark. He is a ApHC registered 2001 Gelding. By looking at his pictures you can tell he is a Big Boy, but just a sweet heart too. Right now I would guess he is 15 hands if not a little taller. Weighs around 1300+ probably more. If you are in the Market for a horse to carry you from Point A to Point B then this Guy could do that. Spark too has great appaloosa coloring and he stands out no matter where to take him. Just like an Appaloosa does his color changes with the seasons too.
Sparks riding record includes Arena Roping, Mountain riding- including hunting trips both being ridden and getting packed, leisure trail rides, and Ranch Work. Sparks time in the arena was spent Roping mainly, but he was getting used for lesson work too. While he can track a cow and hustle out of the box, he needs a lot of leg and direction. He probably wouldn’t suit someone wanting to Winning roping horse, he just doesn’t seem to have the drive for that. If you wanted to learn out to rope than Spark could be just the horse for you. He will stand quietly while you rope the dummy. Spark was Born to be in the Mountain in my opinion. He loves getting to ride out at a steady pace and be in the wilderness. He is great about watching his step, isn’t really a spooky horse either, Alert defiantly but never dangerous. He just has a easy going gentle nature to him. He will walk out well, you can ask for a different paced walks too. Steps over deadfall. Spark rides alone or with a group, we have never let him be sour and want a buddy or to go back to the trailer. If hunting trips are what you look forward too every year, this guy has experience riding and packing. Hasn’t ever seem fazed by dead animals, is willing to do anything from dragging your Kill to an accessible road. He will stand tied to the trailer all night or your can high tie him or stake him out. Trail riding is something Spark has thousands of hours doing. At our ranch in Wyoming great trails were everywhere. He has been exposed to all kinds of wildlife and different types of trail rides too. Ranch work is something Spark does often. Checking & doctoring cattle, Fence checking, Pasture rotation, Feedlot type work, anything you can name this big guy has probably done. Been around Cattle, Sheep, Goats, Llamas/Alpacas, Birds without issues. He is also use to Farm equipment and 4-wheel toys. You can pony him right out your truck window or off the back of your 4-wheeler. He neck reins, works off your legs and is eager to please.
Spark has always been an easy going type horse, with a Very kind eye. He isn’t looking to give you a horrible riding experience. He is good with other horses no matter the age, you can pony off him, she stands quietly at the trailer and is easy to saddle and bridle up. He also loads and unloads WELL. He is current on worming, shots, trimmings and Currently has a Negative Coggins test. He is easy to catch and handle, I would trust the youngest child to lead him around. He blankets without issues, he truly is just a Huge Puppy Dog. He is the Get-R-Done type of horse. If you want him to work he will work. If you want him to be lazy he will be lazy. We have never had issues with him being left off for months and months to then get saddle up and have to be used.
What is the One thing I would change about Spark. He is an Appaloosa horse and with that has White Hooves which are Soft. He needs Shoes in the Summer and needs to be kept trimmed up in the winter. While it is normal up kept with a horse, Spark requires that you don’t Slack on it, because with him being such a Big Bodied horse there is more weight being put on his legs on hooves. Spark is Good for the Farrier and has always been easy to work on.
We are not going to be Recommending Spark for Complete Beginners. With a Controlled Setting he is Great, but outside a Beginner rider might Misread something he does or let him learn bad bahaviors. He would make a Great Family horse in the Sense that you can put your kids on him in the Corral & then when hunting season rolls around Dad can take him into the Mountains. Someone who knows how to Ride a Horse, meaning they know all the basics & are confident shouldn't have any Problems with Spark!!
BREEDING; Spark has Outstanding Appaloosa Papers as well, with many Great on him pedigree. He was bred by a Well Known Appaloosa breeder as well.

This is a 4 year old Palomino Stallion. He is Halter Broke and that is it. Just never got around doing anything else with him. You buy him that way. We don't have the time to put work into him either, Sorry!
He has good strong hooves and clean legs. We have had NO soundness issues with him. He knows how to be a horse. Hasn't had the luxury of barns and blankets. He would make an Outstanding project horse. Right now he is shy due to lack of work, looking to be able to bond with someone. He was halter broke as a weanling when we purchased him he was turned out to pasture. Brought him in due to a cut on him chest and a 12 year old girl began working him August 09‘. She spent everyday with him until he was comfortable around her. Our horses roam quite a bit of Property so they ALL come in with cuts & scrapes. This Stallion would make a great ranch horse, mountain/trail horse just because he already is use to certain aspects of these disciplines. We have not used him for Breeding or anything like that. Currently his is running with geldings and younger colts.
If someone had the time to put into him they would have themselves a Beautiful riding partner. He has an Outstanding Pedigree that could aid him in whatever you choose. His sire does have a Show record doing a little of everything(halter, ranch versatility, trail, Pattern Work) We were told his Sire stood a stud in Indiana for a while and was shown in the Foundation Quarter Horse Registry. Last we heard he was being shown in Colorado and had quite a few Champion titles to his name. His Dam was used for mainly just ranch work but her Sire was used for Barrels. This Stallion does have siblings being shown now. There is a lot of Potential with this Guy.
