   COWBOYS COLONEL BYRD

Colonel was an 11 year old Registered AQHA gelding, a grandson of the legendary Colonel Freckles he was destined for great things. He was trained in reining and took 2 trips to the world as a younger horse and took 2nd at the Champion of Champion show. He was an amazing horse and had so much ability. Colonel spent April-July 2007 being used as a Rodeo Queen horse. Used in Grand Entries and to Pack Flag. He would do anything you ask. He was teaching younger kids about reining, and was used extensively as a Lesson Horse. With is heart of gold, we expected to have him for many, many years to come. Unfortunately on July 7, 2007 Colonel had to be put down tragically after he broke his leg. His break was above his hock and there was no hope of saving him. He was humanly euthanized. He came into this world a Champion and left this world a Champion. We love you Colonel and you are dearly missed. Rest in Peace, friend.

      FROSTY

This sweet guy was truly a life changing horse for us. We rescued him from a Therapeutic Riding Center. They had been starving him to keep him from getting too hot on them. When we rescued him he was 35+ years old according to our vet. I took him to college with me so that he could get all the care he needed to fatten him back up. Within 5 months and good feed and care he was pretty much back. Using him within my Equine Studies class we came to find out that he knew the barrel pattern and pole bending pattern very well. While preparing for a pre-test in one of my classes the pole bending pattern was set up and he took charge and ran the pattern. He was great, and due to being kept under weight had a lot of bottled up energy. I started breakaway roping on him and he was great. A couple of equine classmate and I would ride around town and Frosty was fine with that. A dear friend and I rode our horses through the McDonalds drive-up on April Fools day and got huge laughs from the employees. We got to use him a couple of years but unfortunately he was loosing his teeth and we could do much for him. He was retired out to our pasture until we had to make the heart breaking to put him down. Frosty helped me get started into dream of becoming a Certified Riding Instructor and I got certified while using him. He really was a great horse and we will miss him very much. We had him 2003-2005
